Hawaiian Entertainers on the Mainland Ads

Hawaiian performers started touring the U.S. Mainland in the late 1800s. Eventually entourages of Hawaiians musicians and hula dancers performed in shows and world fairs, popularizing the Hawaiian culture.

Mainland U.S. newspaper ran ads about these performance. Check out the collection in UH Manoa Library’s Flickr collection.
