Pineapple Recipes


Pineapple recipes became a hit with American housewives in the 1910s and 1920s. The famous dish, the upside-down cake (left image), was a yellow cake topped with canned pineapple slices and maraschino cherries.

Canned pineapple producers compiled recipe books, and pineapple recipes also showed up in newspapers in woman pages and columns. Recipes can be seen below.
